Oops...Wrong Cover!

I realized I put the wrong book cover for the last book of Ted Dekker's Paradise Novel Series. The last book is Sinner and not Saint. I am sure everyone noticed! ;~)

Orchids...

I have been working as the Technology Transfer Assistant at the USDA Research Center in the DC area for the past 11 weeks. This is not a permanent position for now, but a chance to learn about another area of USDA. It has been great meeting scientists and learning about their research.

My boss in this position is a scientist who is now the Technology Transfer Coordinator. His specialty is Orchids. The picture above is one he brought to the office from his personal greenhouse. Our office always smells really nice! Isn't the Orchid beautiful? I forgot to take a picture of the Lady Slipper Orchid he brought in recently. It was also beautiful, but did not have a fragrance. Enjoy!!

Just Finished Reading...

I have now finished reading Ted Dekker's Paradise Novel Series. Nice read, but not a favorite. It's one of those you have to read because it would irritate you to not know the ending of the book or series. Of course, whatever book I start I have to finish no matter how long it takes me.

Oops!!!

I forgot to add this picture of Georgia in the Montpelier Mansion blog entry. This is a close up of her dressed in her period outfit or items. G has on her "bonnet", apron and "pocket" over her modern clothes.

Mosaic Cuisine & Cafe

The Garner family ate at Mosaic Cafe today because we were in Rockville. It's too far to go unless you are in the area, but it is soooo good! They have the best waffles. Plus, you can have the waffles as the bread on your sandwich. I know, sounds weird. Seriously, it is melt in your mouth AWESOME!! I had a turkey melt today that was wonderful.

Katie and I found this place several years ago because we were in the area. We were actually at Buy Buy Baby (great store) and wanted some lunch and noticed this cafe across the street. It was the best find ever. If you come visit me, we can go eat there!

My Allie Cat

My Allie cat sleeps on her face. The pictures say it all...

My Little Writer...

Georgia loves to write - All The Time! Sweet Chas sent G a Hello Kitty notebook from Jude and Sanders that G loves to write in. The pictures below are of G in my favorite new pj's diligently writing.

No, I do not have an ottoman with cats on it. I keep a blanket on it because my cats like to sit on it. Helps to keep it nice. The little red stool Georgia is sitting on is the one I had as a kid. G also holds her pen or pencil just like Aunt E. There are a lot of things about G that are just like Aunt E. Sometimes I wonder whose kid she really is?!

Montpelier Mansion

Georgia's class recently went to Montpelier Masion. The tour guides talked to the kids about life on a plantation. They discussed how the kids might dress and why. As they discussed what the boys and girls wore, the guides gave each kid one of the items to put on to wear on the tour. At the end the guides let the kids play with toys the children played with on the plantation. The class went through in two groups, so the group picture is small. I love plantations, but this one was disappointing compared to our MS plantations. Here's a link to the mansion: http://www.pgparks.com/places/eleganthistoric/montpelier_intro.html

G In A Box...

I don't know what possessed my cute girl to clean out her toy box and climb in. By the way, those are plastic scissors, not real ones. I couldn't decide which picture to put in this blog, so I put them all. I am allowed...I'm the momma!!

Garner Snow Day!!

Pictures from our Snow Day this morning. What fun!!

The first SUV is my Highlander. We got at least 8 inches of snow.

The bushes belong to our next door neighbor.
I think Rick took a pic of them to show the snow piled up.

Guilanna, our neighbor, and Georgia playing in the snow.

Rick and Georgia's little snowman. He has shells for eyes.
It's the only thing we could find.

Ice cicles at the top of our house. The only problem is the big one
on the left is right over the front door.

Valentine's Day...

G has decided she likes to wear ponytails. In ballet she doesn't have to wear a bun, but she does have to get her hair off of her neck in a ponytail. Now G loves wearing ponytails. For Valentine's Day, Rick and I gave G ribbons for her ponytails and a Strawberry Shortcake DVD. I guess I am a scrooge, we never give her candy except at Easter and normally the only candy we give at Easter is Dum Dums (suckers). She's happy with the ribbons and the DVD and probably doesn't really know any better, which is fine with me!
